Seguimiento a la Convención sobre los derechos del niño
Asunto: Item 13 at the UN Commission on
Huamn Rights
Dear Child Rights Colleagues,
On March 17th and six weeks, following the UN
Commission on Human Rights will be meeting in Geneva Switzerland. The
Commission will consider several human rights issues including the rights of
the child. In preparation for this event the NGO Group for the CRC Subgroup
on the Commission on Human Rights examined last year's resolution on the
rights of the child and made several proposals for changes to this year's
resolution. The subgroup is also in discussions with the sponsors of the
resolution, namel y the European Union (EU) and the Latin American and
Caribbean Group (GRULAC) on the wording of the upcoming resolution on child
rights. In the attachment above is the final NGO Alternative resolution
which forms to basis for NGO Group's lobby on children's rights.
We are sharing it with you in order that you may
also lobby your respective representatives at national level to support the
highest standards in this resolution. We hope that your efforts in this
regard with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other rel evant Ministries
will hel p to ensure that the Commission on Human Rights will meets its
obligations to children. Please let us know about your progress in this
regard.
